WHAT IS A LUXURY HOME?
Buyers of luxury homes are generally seeking homes with some of the following features that would add substantially to the price based on market averages. Some features that would be included in the “luxury” class home would be:
- GOURMET KITCHEN - granite or Corian counter tops, hardwood or ceramic tile flooring, Corian or porcelain or upgraded stainless sinks, super quiet dishwashers, side-by-side refrigerators with ice/water dispensers, islands with down draft cook tops, butler pantry, build-in microwave/wall oven or double wall ovens, upgraded lighting, range hoods and other amenities including finely crafted cabinetry.
- GARDEN MASTER BATH - with a separate soaking or whirlpool oversized tub, separate shower, double sinks, private water closets, ample storage, decorator tile flooring and tub surrounds and fine cabinetry, mirrors and other features that speak of luxury.
- LUXURY ESTATE LOTS - While lot size alone doesn’t designate a luxury class home, unless the home you select is in a condominium, town home or adult community, the lot sizes for luxury homes in Howard County are larger than average, particularly in the western areas of the county. Many luxury homes are in areas zoned 3 acres or more. There are also luxury communities that were developed on 1 acre average lots. Lot size will impact price as much as location or proximity to employment areas.
